Annvinothiney Selvanagakam Filexbala. Vino supervises our field team based in Kalmadunagar where we are implementing our model organic chicken farm. She is from Kayts but has family connections in Kalmadunagar. Vino has a strong interest in community service; before joining IRDG, she worked with Sewa Lanka Foundation as a community mobiliser across Kandavalai DS division for 5 years.
Elaksiya Sarmilan. Lives in Kalmadunagar and finished her A/L studies at Ramanathapuram Maha Vidyalayam. She is interested in a career in accounting, and currently is responsible for maintaining the accounts of our field office in Kalmadunagar.
Delaxey Wilson Clement. Lives is Kalmadunagar and completed her A/L studies at Ramanathapuram Maha Vidyalayam. She has a finished a diploma in English at the Open University of Kilinochchi and is a keen actress who regularly participates in community dramas.
Diloginy Jeyakumar. Lives in Kalmadunagar and finished her A/L studies at Ramanathapuram Maha Vidyalayam. She has also completed a diploma in English at the Open University of Kilinochchi.
Thanusha Ramachandran. Lives in Ramanathapuram and has completed her A/L studies locally. She has achieved NVQ level in ICTT from Technical College, Vavuniya. Before joining IRDG, she completed 6 months training as a clerk in Nedunkeny Divisional Secretariat office.
Kalaiyarasi Sanmgavel. Kalai is eighteen and has finished her O/L studies. This is her first job and she is enjoying the opportunity to work with new colleagues from her local community. She enjoys dancing and plays kabaddi well.
Jeevahiny Raththinam. Lives in Kalmadunagar and completed her A/L studies at Vipulananthar College. She is particularly interested in languages and is keen to learn and practise English. Working with IRDG has given her opportunities to meet new people, learn different skills, and help those in need.
Mariyathas Quintus Reeta (Sujeeva). Lives in Kalmadunagar and finished her O/L studies in Carmel Convent School, Bandarawala. Previously Sujeeva worked in a pharmacy but now runs a small shop in Kalmadu. Working with IRDG allows her to fulfil her interest in social service.
Sinthuja Kulasegaram. Lives in Kalmadunagar and has finished her A/L studies at Ramanathapuram Mada Vidyalayam. Since leaving school, she has worked as a pharmacist. Sinthuja wants to be able to support disabled people in her country.
Theepana Vejeekaran. Lives in Kalmadunagar and has completed an archaeology degree at the University of Jaffna. She hopes to become a teacher in the future.
IRDG registered Kalmadu Business Development Enterprise Pvt Ltd (KBDE) a social enterprise, to develop micro businesses in Kalmadunagar.
KBDE will provide input and services to Kalmadu Happy Chicken Ltd (KHC).
Jeevanathan Derone Niles. Lives in Kalmadunagar, holds an HND in civil engineering and has two years work experience in the construction of high-rise buildings in Colombo. He is responsible for technical assistance to develop the Kalmadu Happy Chicken business. Derone has been earmarked as the Kalmadu Business Development Enterprise Pvt Ltd Engineering Team leader
Kaneshapillai Kirekaran. Lives in Jaffna and works as the operations manager of an animal feed mill being constructed in Kalmadunagar run by Kalmadu Business Development Enterprise Pvt Ltd. He has completed a diploma in agriculture and has vast experience in managing livestock and crop farms in the Northern Province.
IRDG thank the following Australian volunteers who worked with the team on the ground and enriched the outlook of the field staff and introduced technical knowledge. Going by all account they enjoyed every minute of their stay and work with the Kalmadu field team.

Saru Sivapalan. Saru is a commercial lawyer from Australia. She’s interested in using her skills to support and learn how private sector approaches can enhance livelihoods programming in rural Sri Lanka.
Sujan Selven. Sujan works as a telecommunications technician and subcontractor in Australia, and has a strong interest in governance and accountability. He’s interested in capacity building, particularly involving and working with young people.
