HNB shook hands on a collaboration agreement with IRDG to generate sustainable income opportunities for 1000 women

We are pleased to inform that Mr. Jonathan Alles Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Hatton National Bank PLC visited IRDG office in KIlinochchi and discussed about IRDG, it’s vision, project models and ongoing work.
Mr Alles observed that HNB PLC has supported the national growth strategy for micro and SME entrepreneurship across the island and offered his fullest support from HNB to IRDG in its endeavour to promote MSME in the province.
He further stated, "We are aware of the challenges faced by the people in the North and East with the drought playing a big part in limiting production and productivity. HNB has been in the region right through its difficult past. We believe in MSME's role and the opportunities agriculture provides for rural entrepreneurship development. We shall be pleased to work with IRDGs models of promoting organic produce cultivation to create sustainable income for women and we would endeavour to support these initiatives. We are mindful of challenges in pioneering new cultivation models and processes in these provinces and will assist IRDG through HNB's network of partners".
Jonathan asked if IRDG is geared to meet the demand of targeting sustainable income for 1,000 women of the northern province through organic cultivation within one year. He suggested to commence a collaborative arrangement with the HNB Kilinochchi branch to start a pilot by Monday 20th August 2018. Based on the learning from this pilot large scale roll out of the models may be undertaken.
Mr Naga Narendran Director Operations IRDG thanked Mr Alles the MD/CEO of HNB PLC for his dynamic and committed response and recognised the contribution HNB has made over the past years for village awakening through its flagship product, HNB Gami Pubuduwa.
Naga said "IRDG's team is ready to start this pilot on Monday and is very confident of its development model of organic cultivation and our team will work very closely with the HNB Kilinochchi branch manager Mr Hariharan".
We will update you all on our progress on this journey.
